demonstrating your potential...

Preparation and planning prevents a poor performance. An individual from my network contacted me looking for his next career move. He wanted to work for an innovative technology company. I carefully considered all of my technology employers and thought that one in particular would be an excellent match.

The Adrian Evans approach

The company in question agreed with my recommendation. They interviewed my candidate but unfortunately, selected another candidate. There was, however, a connection between the company and my candidate. I stayed in touch with my candidate and twelve months later a new opportunity arose with the same company. The role was outside of my candidate’s key skill sets but he had brilliant intellect, a proven track record, and, exceptional future potential.

A perfect match

My candidate was up against an internal candidate with a strong reputation who had excellent experience of server technologies. As my candidate had limited server experience I decided to meet with the recruiting team to gain a thorough understanding of the criteria they would use in appraising each candidate. A key criterion was that candidates had to display “exceptional future potential”. I was confident in my candidate’s ability so we prepared a plan to demonstrate his potential. He was successful in his final interview and was offered the role. He is doing a great job as their Product Marketing Manager and is advancing his career.
