My client had identified a requirement for a Senior Retail Communications Manager. As the brand is a relatively new player in the space, it was not viewed as a top destination for the high calibre candidates they needed to attract.

I viewed the brand as a dynamic, challenger brand. I felt that passionate and able professionals would have an excellent opportunity to gain considerable autonomy and utilise all their marketing skills with this company. I met with the newly appointed Head of Channel Marketing and presented a plan of action to overcome this problem. This included sourcing candidates from other sectors who had the passion and transferable skills to add value and make a successful transition. I implemented a tactical marketing campaign championing the brand and selected three candidates for interview.

One of my candidates stood head and shoulders above the others. This candidate was highly motivated and carried out extensive research into the brand. She visited a number of the company’s stores and gained deep insights into the business. Interviews were arranged with the Head of Channel Marketing, Director of Communications and finally the Head of Retail.
